Raiders game Desai-ded by home run Harsha
Chichester Falcons Softball Club went 2 for 2 on Sunday with a good win against Redbridge Raiders in Southampton.
A slow start at bat saw shortstop Ben Sawkins hit the first of his four doubles on the day, but the Falcons only managed to squeeze 2 runs in the first. Taking the field however, it was good morning, good afternoon and good night for the Raiders as the first three batters were quickly retired thanks to a sharp double play instrumented by James Mortimore, pitching his first game for the Falcons.

The second inning saw the Falcons soar ahead with a whopping 9 runs thanks to a series of base hits from catcher Louise Rowe and first baseman David Morris, but the biggest cheer came for Harsha Desai who slung a flyball deep to right field before haring around the diamond to score her first home run, bringing three runs to put the Falcons 11-0 ahead. The Raiders responded sharply with 2 runs of their own but Sam McGann ended that with a catch in centre right. By now the Falcons were flying high, putting a further 11 runs up in the third with outfielders Bronte Harvey and Stefan Panayotopoulos again pounding the Raiders infield.
The Raiders frustrations continued at bat with Vicki Cathie and Lucy Morris both securing outs at second and third base leaving the Falcons to put a further 4 runs up in the fourth inning to end the game early at 26-2.
Next Sunday (5th June) at 11am, the Falcons hope to continue their run of good form when they play their first home game of the season at Oaklands Park, against Portsmouth Zombies.
